The SIL-A Advanced is an efficient Feeder Protection Relay with reliable Overcurrent and Earth fault Protection for Primary and Secondary Distribution, particularly suitable for MV switchgear.

Fanox has used the latest hardware technology to develop SIL-A Advanced, and it is available in several models according to customer requirements and installation needs. This solution is mainly indicated for installations such as windfarms o photovoltaic panels plants (Renewables).

SIL-A has a design that requires less equipment and space, reducing operating costs and maintenance. The optimal design makes the device’s useful life longer and enhanced safety by reducing hazards and saving installation time.

Intuitive and easy to use, SIL-A has flexible communications with multiple ports and protocols that allow seamless integration: RS485, IEC60870-5-103, Modbus RTU, or DNP3.0, Modbus TCP/IP, IEC60870-5-104, RJ45, IEC61850.

SIL-A Advanced has performed a complete set of type tests in Kema Laboratories (The Netherlands). This independent certification gives our customers higher quality and reliability assurance.

SIL-A Models A / D

The SIL-A is a feeder relay with overcurrent and earth fault protections for primary and secondary distribution with auxiliary power supply 24-230 Vac/dc. The current measurement is obtained by standard current transformers /1 or /5.

  • Metallic box with high electromagnetic compatibility level (EMC) and wide range of operating temperature.
  • Direct signalling/control of the circuit breaker (52 function) and the recloser (79 function).
  • Zone selection interlocking – ZSI (68 function) is available throug configurable inputs and outputs thanks to the programmable logic (PGC).In case a CB is manually closed, a switch on to an existing fault may occur. This fault condition is critical if the overcurrent protection function does not clear the fault until the adjusted time delay is finished. It is necessary, in those cases, to clear the fault quickly by means of SOTF function.
  • To allow the communication, relays are provided with a local micro USB front port and with remote communication with different options (ports and protocols) on the rear side:
    • 1 RS485 Port: IEC60870-5-103, Modbus RTU or DNP3.0 Serial (selectable by general settings).
    • 1RS485 Port: IEC60870-5-103, Modbus RTU or DNP3.0 Serial (selectable by general settings) + 1 RJ45 Port: Modbus TCP/IP or IEC60870-5-104 (selectable by general settings).
    • 1 RS485 Port: IEC60870-5-103, Modbus RTU or DNP3.0 Serial (selectable by general settings) 1 RJ45 Port: IEC61850
  • The SIL-A has 6 configurable inputs and 6 configurable outputs.
  • SIL-A is fitted with the demand of current (Load Data Profiling) with the following characteristics:
    • Number of records: 168
    • Recording mode circular
    • Sampling rate (interval): configurable through communications (1-60 min).
  • SIL-A is provided with non-volatile RAM memory in order to store up to 3.072 events and disturbance fault recording (DFR – 25 fault reports and 25 oscillographic records in COMTRADE format), maintaining date & time thanks to its internal RTC (real Time Clock).
  • The oscillography is downloaded by communications port. The SICom communications program allows the oscillograghy record to be downloaded and saved in COMTRADE format (IEEE C37.111-1991).

Communication Software for SIA & SIL protection relays

The SICom PC software has been designed and programmed to gain access to all of Fanox relays information, to modify the settings and configuration, check states and measurements and to analyse and save events and fault reports using a graphic-friendly user interface.

SICom software works with the Windows® Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 operating system.

The update of the software does not require any user´s action, this is, if the computer is connected to Internet, SICom updates itself when it is started.
It will allow you to prepare all the settings and relay configurations without having the relay connected to the PC (offline mode), reducing engineering and commissioning time.
SICom program uses Modbus protocol, so only the ports with this protocol can be used to establish the communication.
