One of the main problems when it comes to protecting a generator is protection against overloads. The use of thermal-magnetic switches, fuses or thermal relays is not effective, as their trip curves do not adapt to the operating limit curve or generator damage curve; this curve relates the generator overload to the maximum time that can be allowed for its operation in these conditions with no significant damage.
Fanox offers three devices to maintain the generator within the established operating parameters.
The GEN relay provides effective protection against overloads and imbalance or a mising phase, signalling the cause of the trip. It is equipped with a thermal memory which memorizes the generator heating and cooling in such a way that will trip faster if another overload has been detected previously. Its 16 selectable trip curves, situated below the generator limit curve, allow for optimal operation without overloads causing irreparable damage.
The H relay controls the frequency, ensuring it is kept within the previously set limits. It has 2 independent output relays and the minimum or maximum frequency output relay is activated according to the cases selected with the relay.
The U3 relays are used to control the voltage value of the installation. |
